My name is Anthony McConnell, Democratic candidate for Lake County Board - 3rd District.  I am a resident of Lake Villa where I live with my wife Cayce and our two children.  My wife and I are proud to be raising our two children in such a kind and welcoming community.

Currently, I am an Assistant Superintendent at Deerfield Public Schools District 109 in Deerfield, IL.  However, I began my career as a high school social studies and English language teacher.  As a teacher I mostly taught English, American History, and Government to refugee students that had come to the United States from war torn countries.  These students inspired me on a daily basis and my former students are a constant reminder for me of the promise and hope our county embodies.

After teaching, I served as both an assistant principal and elementary school principal, also in Deerfield. In my final year as principal, my school Kipling Elementary was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.

I hold a bachelor's degree in history and anthropology, master's degrees in English language learning and educational leadership, and I most recently completed my doctoral degree in educational leadership at Western Illinois University.  Currently, I am pursuing my Certificate of Advanced Education Leadership at Harvard University.

I also serve as an adjunct professor of educational leadership at Concordia University in River Forest, IL.

I enjoy running and enjoying our beautiful outdoor spaces here in Lake County.  But most of all I enjoy spending time with Cayce and our two children (9) and (5).

I am running for Lake County Board because I have spent my career bringing communities together whether it be as a teacher, principal, or now as an assistant superintendent.  I know first hand the hopes and dreams we all have for our children and our communities and I have committed myself to help make those a reality wherever I serve and however I serve.  I believe as a member of the Lake County Board I can continue that mission, unite our communities, and bring thoughtful consideration to the issues that impact all of us as residents.
